CENTRE COUNTY —State College High and Bald Eagle Area each scored double-digit wins on Friday, Oct. 10 while Penns Valley beat Greater Johnstown for its first win of the season.
Here’s a look at those games and more as the Centre County teams head into the final two weeks of the 2025 high school football season.
State College routs CD East, 39-7
State College senior running back D’Antae Sheffey ran 24 times for 183 yards and scored four touchdowns as the Little Lions rolled over Mid Penn foe Central Dauphin East 39-7 at home on Friday night.
Sheffey scored two first-half touchdowns as the Lions shot out to a 27-7 lead, while the SC defense gave up an early touchdown and then shut out CD East for the rest of the night.
Quarterback Connor Kulka also had a big night with 11 completions for 115 yards and touchdown passes to D Coad and J Lukac.
Both Rowan Walker and AJ Fry came up with interceptions.
State College gained 226 yards on the ground and had 341 yards of total offense against CDE as it improved its overall record to 7-1 and 6-1 in the Mid-Penn Commonwealth.
Sheffey now has 159 carries this season for 1056 yards and 14 touchdowns, an average of 150 yards per game and 6.6 yards per carry.
Next up for State College will be a trip on Friday night to face the Carlisle Thundering Herd.
Carlisle so far has not had a good time this season and comes into the game with a 0-8 record.
The Herd have been held scoreless in five of those losses, and they have scored just 33 points this season.
Last week, at home against Cedar Cliff, Carlisle had its best offensive show of the year but still came up short, 57-19.
Quarterback Carter Wilson leads the team in passing and rushing, while Mickel Hakim is the top receiver.
The Little Lions are solidly ranked No. 1 in the District 6, AAAAAA bracket with two games remaining in the regular season. The Lions will take on Bishop McDevitt in the season final.
Kickoff in Carlisle is set for 7 p.m.

Penns Valley 27, Greater Johnstown 24
Penns Valley Rams have had a propensity this season of giving up late scores and losing close games.
It looked like that same story might unfold against Greater Johnstown on Thursday night, but PV’s Fletcher Ironside stonewalled a late Trojan drive with a game-saving interception and the Rams held on for an exciting 27-24 victory.
The Rams built up a 21-6 halftime lead and then scored again on a scramble and pass by Spencer Althouse to Gannyn Stover that gave them a 27-18 lead.
Johnstown was not finished, however.
The Trojans struck back quickly on a long run by Daniel Porter and a 1-yard plunge by Cordell Porter that made it 27-24. The two-point conversions failed, and Penns Valley was once again faced with holding on for a victory late in the fourth quarter.
Thanks to Ironside, this time the Rams held.
The Ironsides and Althouse led the Ram attack again with Carter Ironside throwing for 240 yards and Fletcher catching 10 passes for 125 yards.
The Rams are now 1-7 and headed to 6-2 Huntingdon for an LHAC matchup on Friday night.
Huntingdon is having a winning season this year with big wins over Bald Eagle Area, Somerset, Bellwood-Antis, Clearfield, Central, and Bedford.
In the Bearcats’ 28-9 win at Bedford on Friday, running back Evan Edmiston led a 200-yard, 3-touchdown running attack that was the key to the victory.
Edmiston himself ran 20 times for 91 yards and 2 touchdowns while Landon Erdman ran for 75 yards and the other running score.
Huntingdon with a 6-2 record is ranked No. 2 in the D6, AAA bracket and is just one game behind No. 1 Penn Cambria.
The game is set to kick off at 7 p.m. in Huntingdon.
BEA Shuts out Westmont-Hilltop, 28-0
The Bald Eagle Area football team raced out to a 21-0 halftime lead at Westmont-Hilltop on Friday night and then turned to its defense in a decisive 28-0 LHAC victory.
Senior quarterback Grady Fisher threw for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for another 45 yards in a game in which the Bald Eagles outgained the Hilltoppers 333 to 140 in total yardage. Running back Nick McCully also added 84 yards rushing on 18 carries.
Fisher gave BEA a quick lead early with a touchdown pass to Luke Hosband and then a 1-yard run in the first quarter.
Another touchdown pass to Hosband, this one a 25-yarder, in the second quarter gave BEA a comfortable, 21-point halftime lead.
Throughout the game, Westmont did move the ball, but BEA came up with big defensive plays to keep the Hilltoppers out of the endzone, including two fourth-down stops and an interception.
The Eagles finished the scoring on a halfback pass from Kollin Cunningham to Jackson Millward.
The Eagles, now 4-4, will take on 2-6 Central in Martinsburg on Friday night.
Central has lost five of its last six games with the most recent being a close, 32-22 loss at Central Cambria on Friday night.
The Dragons do have wins over Greater Johnstown and Penns Valley.
These two teams match up closely in total yardage–267 for BEA to 278 for Central–but BEA’s trio of McCulley, Husband and Fisher will give the Eagles an advantage.
BEA also needs a win to keep pace in the District 6 AA standings where they now stand at No. 9 just behind Bellwood-Antis and United.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Martinsburg.
Bellefonte couldn’t hold off 7-1 Richland
Bellefonte Raiders held leads at halftime and deep into the fourth quarter at Richland on Friday night, but they could not hold on as Richland squeaked out a tough, 33-29 victory.
Bellefonte led 16-14 at halftime, and then 23-20 with just six minutes to play in the game.
But Richland scored two quick touchdowns directed by quarterback Jacob Regan within four minutes to take a 33-23 lead with just under two minutes to play.
Bellefonte’s Jackson Long returned the kickoff 80-yards for a touchdown that pulled the Raiders to within three points, but it was too late and Richland took the close win.
The loss was the fifth of the season for the Raiders, against three wins, with a trip to 4-4 Bellwood-Antis coming up on Friday night.
Bellwood is coming off a 46-28 victory over Chestnut Ridge on Friday in which the Blue Devils racked up over 350 yards of offense, including 216 on the ground.
Alex McCartney led the charge for B-A with 20 carries for 100 yards and a touchdown, while Chase Plummer carried 13 times for 85 yards and a touchdown.
This game has playoff implications with Bellwood ranked just above United and Bald Eagle Area in the AA Bracket, and Bellefonte No. 2 in the AAAA rankings just behind Juniata.
Both teams would greatly benefit from a win, especially B-A.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Bellwood.
Unbeaten Bishop McCort upends Philipsburg-Osceola 42-0.
Undefeated Bishop McCort scored three touchdowns in the first period, and then two more in the second period, on the way to a 42-0 LHAC victory over Philipsburg-Osceola in Johnstown on Friday night.
With McCort running up big yardage, especially in the first half, P-O did have some success moving the ball.
The Mounties twice advanced inside the McCort red zone, but both times came away empty handed.
Colton Chapman ran for 45 yards for P-O, and Jayden Jones added 35, but the McCort defense held the Mounties overall to just 130 yards total for the night.
P-O will next face Tyrone away on Friday night in a game with playoff significance.
Both teams will enter the game at 4-4 and tied for fourth place in the District 6, AAA Bracket.
Two weeks ago, Tyrone came away with a big win over Huntingdon at home, 41-21, but last week the Golden Eagles fell to powerful Penn Cambria, 27-10.
Quarterback Eli Woomer has thrown for 1184 yards and 8 touchdowns so far, with running back Caleb Whitby adding 676 yards and 9 touchdowns on 114 carries.
The Mounties will counter with quarterback Archer Baughman and Chapman, who has 703 yards this season with 14 touchdowns.
This is an important contest for both teams.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m. in Tyrone.
